Government-funded, highly competitive: full tuition + living stipend + airfares. India is eligible under the South Asia stream, via target institutions.

II.

Destination Australia Scholarship

Up to AUD 15,000/year (~INR 10L) for students at regional Australian campuses (e.g., Tasmania, Newcastle, regional NSW).

III.

Go8 University Scholarships

IV.

University-specific Indian student awards

Hidden costs, talked about rarely

One-off costs nobody warns you about

These aren't in tuition or rent calculators but they hit your bank account in the first 2-3 months. The AUD 2,000 student visa (Subclass 500) fee alone shocks most students.

Budget on two tiers. Sydney or Melbourne, tuition plus living, runs ~AUD 72,000โ€“95,000 a year (~INR 48โ€“64L). Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, or a regional city brings the same year down to ~AUD 52,000โ€“74,000 (~INR 35โ€“49L) for comparable quality. Your city moves the total more than almost any other choice, which is exactly where we start your plan.
Yes, and most of our students fund the bulk through an education loan. A sanctioned loan counts as a valid source for the visa, alongside bank balance or family income. Beyond tuition you'll need to show living costs (currently AUD 29,710/year) plus a return airfare, and have first-semester fees ready upfront to get your CoE. Documentary standards tightened after 2024, so we make sure the paperwork is airtight before you lodge.
The ones that hit in your first month: the Subclass 500 visa fee is AUD 2,000 (~INR 1.34L), OSHC adds ~AUD 600โ€“800 upfront, IELTS or PTE is ~INR 19K, document attestation INR 8โ€“18K, a one-way flight INR 60โ€“95K, and a settling-in kit (bond, bedding, utilities) AUD 1,500โ€“2,800. We hand you the full line-item list up front so none of it ambushes you.
Enough to matter, not enough to live on, and we'll always be straight about that. You can work 48 hours a fortnight in semester and unlimited hours in breaks, at a minimum wage of AUD 24.95/hour (rising to 26.44 on 1 July 2026). A steady ~24 hours a week is roughly AUD 600/week before tax, about INR 13โ€“19L across a year. It offsets your living costs; it does not pay your tuition.
More than students assume. The government Australia Awards cover full tuition plus living for a competitive few; Destination Australia gives up to AUD 15,000/year at regional campuses; every Go8 uni runs merit awards of ~AUD 5,000โ€“25,000; and Deakin, RMIT, Macquarie, Wollongong, and Griffith offer dedicated ~INR 4โ€“10L waivers for strong Indian students. We apply for every one you're eligible for, at no extra cost.
